Duron Harmon Has Eagles And Patriots Fans In A “Living Rent Free In Your Brain” Competition

The Patriots won their 6th Super Bowl on Sunday, but as a reminder they lost last year 41-33 to the Philadelphia Eagles. It appears you can’t win them all, even though the Patriots came pretty close to winning both of those games.

Go to any tweet from a Patriots fan and there are at least 3 GIF’s of Brady’s dropped pass from a few Eagles fans that are definitely not going to relive the glory days and morph into Cowboys fans in a few years.

In case you need a reminder of how this all started, Lane Johnson went on Pardon My Take last year and the big J journalists got him to give the Patriots some bulletin board material.

“I just think that ‘The Patriot Way’ is a fear-based organization,” Johnson said. “Obviously, do they win? Hell yes, they win. They’ve won for a long time. Do I think people enjoy and can say, ‘I had a lot of fun playing there’? No, I don’t. That’s just the God’s honest truth.

“They’re successful, but when they go to interviews, they act like [expletive] robots. Hey, stop being a [expletive] head. We can be cordial for a little bit. You only get to do this job one time, so let’s have fun while we’re doing it. Not to be reckless, but I’d much rather have fun and win a Super Bowl than be miserable and win five Super Bowls. But hey, it is what it is.”

And when the Patriots used these comments as motivation, everyone jumped to the conclusion that the Eagles live rent free in Patriots fans heads. That reaction made Patriots fans come to the conclusion that actually Patriots fans are the ones living rent free in their brain.

Sure, Patriots players are coached to not give these types of comments to the media, to focus on football, on the ultimate goal of winning. As Kyle Van Noy so eloquently remarked: the Patriots don’t have superstars, they have elite football players. The entire locker room is filled with guys that just want to put their head down and work, knowing everyone else in the entire organization is doing the same thing. Doing interviews can’t be fun, but this is literally a job. Sure they are getting paid millions of dollars to play a game, but it’s still a job and you can’t be having fun 100% of the time.

Knowing the implications of the words coming out of his mouth, Lane Johnson had to expect some blowback. You can’t just drop that, criticize the Patriot Way, and then say the Patriots shouldn’t say anything back. They didn’t mention anything about it during the season because they were too focused on ignoring the noise and winning.

After a few fireball nips during the Patriots parade, Duron Harmon was feelin’ himself and decided to directly address the comments. He simply regurgitated what Lane Johnson said and disputed it. Hey, you don’t think we have fun? We’ll here we are having fun.

Seems like a pretty fair end to this Patriots have no fun debate. Lane Johnson said they don’t have fun, he got his Super Bowl ring….the Patriots have their 6 rings and said they are having fun. Both sides should be pretty happy, ideal scenario. But Eagles fans and Patriots fans will continue to have a rent-free-in-your-head-off until the end of time.

The replies to this tweet are worse than a Craigslist listing to an underpriced New York City studio apartment.

Duron Harmon aka The Closer is not concerned with getting all of those notifications and I’m sure aggressive DM’s:

Lane Johnson has yet to reply, so I cannot confirm or deny the rent situation inside his head, but he has chirped back at Pres for getting arrested at the Super Bowl, getting $6 million in free PR, personally winning like $200K, selling billions in t-shirt sales from his core customers, and having his team win their 6th Super Bowl.
