Brady is gone and that sucks but we have to move on. We can mourn the loss but we can’t just stop, we still need to find a QB. Rapoport said he is hearing the Pats aren’t planning on spending much and don’t hate the idea of trying Stidham out.

I hate that idea. The kid might end up being good but from the limited snaps he got last season I wasn’t impressed. Dalton is a joke and the guy I wanted just signed in Carolina so where do we go from here? There are 3 “major” names left that I would consider, after that we’re looking in the Brian Hoyer range which is maybe passable but not ideal.
This is in no particular order*
1. Jameis Winston- this would effectively make the Brady deal a trade, I mean not really but you know what I mean. Biggest downside, Jameis threw 30 picks last year. Bright side he just got lasik so maybe he just couldn’t see? I don’t know, this doesn’t seem like an option and I just feel like he is going to get paid and the Pats won’t be doing that.
2. Cam Newton- Cam is a former MVP who carried a trash offense to the Super Bowl. I can already see the comments about him not diving on the ball, shut up. Not going to have one bad play define a former MVPs entire career. Pretty massive downside for Cam is he would have to be traded for and that plus his contract might get pricey. He is also coming off of an injury and I don’t know how he is going to look. I also can’t read anything he writes because of that stupid font. Cam doesn’t seem likely.
3. Jacoby Brissett- out of the 3 this is my favorite option. He has already been in the system and now that Rivers signed with Indy he should be available. I think a lot went wrong towards the end of the season for the Colts and Jacoby has unfairly become the scapegoat. He isn’t guilt free but that team was like 6-2 then they just collapsed. He is in a very team friendly contract right now and yes you’ll have to trade for him like Cam but Jacoby has a cheaper contract, now I know the Pats don’t have much leverage so they might have to “lose” the trade initially but this is doable. Very doable.
What will likely happen is the Pats are going to sign a Brian Hoyer type and just hold over until Stidham is ready or they might draft a QB. Not sure what will happen but I think I like the idea of taking a chance on Jacoby, who is a proven starter, then to draft an unknown or sign a journeyman backup like Fitzpatrick.
