This one is probably going to get me a lot of hate as I woke up an chose violence this morning.
We’re in year 6 of Gritty as the Flyers mascot and I have seen enough. That’s right I’m over him and his stupid little shtick. I’ll even go as far to say this…
I HATE GRITTY.
Everywhere I look all I see when it comes to the NHL promoting the Flyers is Gritty and I’ve had enough of it. You might not like this take but I’ll defend it to the death of me that’s how much I’m over this clown.
Ever since he was born or created or left outside the Wells Fargo Center it feels like Gritty has become the identity of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Granted, there were some pretty bad seasons that the Flyers didn’t really have much going for them but now times have changed. They have embraced the rebuild, are playing well above expectations, and have plenty of young players that could be showcased.
So it’s time to at least tone down the Gritty content. Sure he’s great for the kids but I’m not a kid and I could care less about his shenanigans. For crying out loud he has his own chaos corner at the games. It’s too much, why can’t he just bang his stupid little drum and pose for pictures. Why does he have to be the star of the show.
Guys got the biggest ego and it’s always Gritty this and Gritty that. Enough is enough and I am no longer going to pretend that I like this guy anymore. Im standing on business as the kids say now a days.
Call me an old man yelling at the clouds or whatever but it’s time to take a stand. I know I’m not alone on this take with hating Gritty. Bring back the days where the Flyers didn’t have a mascot.
