Last night, the Philadelphia Phillies secured their spot in the MLB playoffs for the 16th time in franchise history and they did it in dramatic fashion.
A walk off from rookie Johan Rojas in the bottom of the 10th inning sent the Phillies to the postseason and they also locked up the first wildcard thanks to a Cubs loss.
It was a beautiful sight as we all know just how magical last October was and this game gave us that feeling again. From the walkoff hit to the celebration in the clubhouse after, Red October is almost here.
Dancing on My Own may not be the only thing that makes it’s return this postseason. A certain Phillies player may also be ready to go in just a few short weeks. You might remember him but in case you forgot, here’s what he does…
That’s right ladies and gents, Rhys Hoskins could be ready to go for the Phillies by the World Series according to Manager Rob Thomson.
Hoskins, who tore his ACL back in spring training was a key part of the Phillies postseason success last year. Getting him back into the lineup even as a DH or pinch hitter would be a huge boost to an already stacked lineup.
If I was a betting man(Spoiler, I am) then I would for sure but some money on this guy coming back before the World Series. I’d even go as far to say as it’s going to be a really cool moment when he comes back in the NLCS and hits a key homerun.
You can feel the magic in the air already. Red October is almost back and this Phillies team feels special. The Wild Card begins next week, we are still waiting on the Phillies opponent and the schedule for when they are playing. That should all be out probably by Sunday I would assume.
Here’s some highlights from last years magical run from the Phillies…
