Could McDavid Put Up 200 Points?

The NHL is back and well McJesus wasted no time making sure people didn’t forget he is the best player in the world. Last night Connor McDavid topped off an Oilers comeback win with an empty net goal for his third goal of the night and his fourth point.

After falling behind 3-0 early in the second period McDavid helped lead the charge for the Oilers comeback. He started with an assist on Leon Draisaitl first goal of the season.

Then McDavid would get his first of the season on a beautiful power play goal that looked straight out of a video game. I mean the passing here was insane and how quick the puck is off McDavid’s stick is crazy.

He would go on to add two more goals one being his 700th career point. 700 points and he is only 25 years old. Only five players have reached 700 points faster than McDavid. Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Peter Stasny, Mike Bossy, and Jari Kurri. Pretty good company for the 25 year old to be in and we are witnessing something that hasn’t been seen in a long time.

Maybe I am talking nonsense here and pumping McDavids tires a little too much but he might actually put up 200 points this year. Honestly he might have to in order for the Oilers to make a run towards a cup. They thought Jack Campbell was going to solve the goaltender issues but he didn’t look great last night. Obviously it’s only game one but the Oilers will need Campbell to be much better then what we saw last night.

With his four point performance last night McDavid is on pace to put up 328 points over the course of 82 games. Is it crazy to think he could actually put up four points a night? Maybe but I mean have you seen what this guy has been able to do in his career so far? I’m just saying I wouldn’t be that surprised if he does.

Anyway, if you have the chance do yourself a favor and go watch McDavid play in person. He’s the type of guy you’ll want to be able to tell your grandkids that you got to see play he is that damn good.
