Holy shit, the Buffalo Sabres are bringing back their goathead black and red logo. The team announced yesterday the logo will indeed be on their third jersey for the upcoming season.
Are the Sabres about to be a wagon this season? They made a few moves this off-season and they just locked up Tage Thompson to a 7 year contract after his career year last season. They have a decent young core led by defenseman Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power. They also selected Matthew Savoie in this past draft with the 9th overall pick and who knows maybe he makes the team out of camp.
They still have plenty of question marks including in net as right now they have 97 year old Craig Anderson and average at best Eric Comrie between the pipes. However, they do have a guy in Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen who could end up being the guy to steal the net.
Luukkonen is only 23 years old and posted a .917 sv% in 9 games with Buffalo last year. He is also another one of these big goaltenders standing at 6’5 and 217 lbs. He was a 2nd round pick back in 2017 and has a lot of potential. If he plays to his potential he could be the guy for Buffalo going forward.
With all that and the addition of the goathead third jersey the Sabres could be a team to keep an eye on for the upcoming season.
