And by new, I mean THE PHILADELPHIA STARS HAVE BEEN RESURRECTED! For those that don’t know, the Philadelphia Stars were a member of the now-defunct USFL back in 1983 and 1984 before moving to Baltimore. The Stars were coached by Jim Mora and played for the USFL title both seasons and winning in 1984.
The new USFL isn’t technically “associated” at all with the old USFL, but the Stars name was one piece that was able to carry over from the former league.
What is the new look USFL going to look like? Here’s what we know:
-Starts in March 2022
-Fox Sports owns the league and is committing $150-$200 million over three years for operations
-Most likely will be played in Birmingham, AL
-More information will be announced later today
The new United States Football League is launching in the spring of 2022.
