We are back in the UFC Apex in Las Vegas for UFC Vegas 43 in what has two very high level main events.
In the Women’s Bantamweight division we have #7 Ketlen Vieira (-115) taking on #8 Miesha Tateย (-105) in what is a huge matchup with future title shot implications. Miesha looked great in her return fight from a 4 year layoff a few months ago. She is very clearly in peak physical condition and has completely transformed her body. She seems to be in the best shape of her life at 35 years old.
I think both women will look for the takedown and the one that can impose their will more will end up with the W. For Miesha, she’s got to get her takedowns and win those positions on the ground and keep control on top, and if she can do that, which i think she will, I see her getting a UD win. Ideally, a finish for Miesha here would be huge but I think Vieira will be very tough to put away. I see Tate getting the win and moving one step closer to getting her world title shot vs Amanda Nunes.
Now how about this welterweight co-main event between #6 Michael Chiesa (+145) and #14 Sean Brady (-165) in an extremely high level matchup. The 14-0 Philadelphia native Brady is doing exactly what fighters in his position should do. If he can finish Chiesa, which will NOT be easy, he’ll catapult himself into the top 10 and maybe even take Chiesa’s spot at 6. This is a really tough one to call. Both are high level on the ground with Chiesa’s wrestling pedigree and Brady’s black belt in BJJ.
Brady has the power advantage on the feet and can certainly strike with Chiesa, whom will have a clear length advantage. This is by far Brady’s toughest opposition and could be a career defining fight for him. I think Brady gets it done and gets to 15-0. The 28 year old will be main eventing in Philly, PA one day. Kamaru Usman has a new contender on his radar…
