A football legend has passed away today. Patriots great David Patten has reportedly passed away from a motorcycle accident (according to multiple outlets online). Patten was a 3-time Super Bowl champion with the Patriots and had the honor of catching the first-ever TD pass from Tom Brady:

A standout receiver out of Western Carolina, Patten basically won a roster spot with the Arena Football League’s Albany Firebirds by attending an open tryout. Patten turned his AFL experience into a decade-plus career in the NFL, with stops in New York (Giants), Cleveland, New England, Washington, and New Orleans.
Patten finished his career with 147 games played, 324 receptions for 4,715 yards (14.6 YPC), and 24 touchdowns.
Rest in Peace, David Patten.
