If you’re a Minnesota Wild fan you should be freaking out right now. Theres a very real possibility that one of your best players and reigning Calder Trophy Winner won’t be playing for the Wild come October.
Now that he has a deal in place with CSKA Moscow of the KHL that possibility is becoming even more real.
Granted all of this could just be a play on his part to gain some leverage in the negotiations with the Wild but it’s clear he has no problems with going to play in the KHL. Plus it’s only a one year deal so he could just spend a year there and continue to try and work things out with the Wild.
I feel like that’s not an ideal situation and the Wild should be more focused on trying to lock up Kaprizov. His camp claims that he has not received an offer from the Wild since April but the sides have been in communication.
Will Kaprizov play for the Wild this season or will he head to the KHL? An interesting story to keep an eye on as we go forward.
