Last week Oklahoma and Texas were officially accepted into the SEC (effective in July 2025 at the latest). Today there are reports of two other giant College Football brands looking to join the conference as well. ESPN’s Mark Ryan first reported that a reliable source has confirmed that Clemson and Florida State have reached out to the South Eastern Conference about joining.
Per a reliable source, Clemson+Florida State have reached out to the SEC about joining the conference.
The SEC is concerned that streaming numbers for Clemson+Florida State don't bring what Oklahoma+Texas do.

With the recent move involving Oklahoma and Texas, there is no doubt that the SEC will be the best conference in football and will receive the most television coverage. Other big-name programs are going to want their school to be presented with the rest of the national powers. This could start a chain reaction that will ultimately form a super conference in the future.
No official word has been released, but with how the College Football landscape is rapidly changing in 2021 there isn’t anything that would shock fans.
