Song of the Day:

Street Runner – Rod Wave

Positive Quote of the Day:

Gosh, all a kid has to do these days is spit straight and he gets forty-thousand dollars to sign. – Cy Young

What an amazing quote; Imagine what Cy would think about today’s contracts and how pitchers are used. It always blows my mind to think that a guy like Cy Young, who is undoubtedly the greatest statistical pitcher to ever live, made basically no money. Even guys who played in the 1960’s-1970’s were making slightly above-average money. Really goes to show the power of media rights and technology.

What Makes Today Special?

Today marks the 120th anniversary of Cy Young winning his 300th game. He is a member of an exclusive club that now consists of 24 players who have amassed over 300 career wins, and every player in that club is now a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame (besides Roger Clemens).
Cy Young went on to win 511 career games, which is widely considered one of the most unbreakable records in all of sports.
