Song of the Day:

Session 32 – Summer Walker
Who doesn’t love some slow jams? I’m a huge r&b guy and Summer Walker is one of the genre’s biggest risers. Unbelievable voice.

Positive Quote of the Day:

Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow. – Helen Keller

What Makes Today Special?

On July 8th, 2010, LeBron James changed the entire future of sports. After an extremely successful run with his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers (albeit not winning a title), LeBron announced that he would be holding a “live press conference” on ESPN to announce his decision.

Enter “The Decision.” Surrounded by members of the Boys & Girls Club and enough Vitamin Water to quench the thirst of the entirety of Ohio, LeBron announced that he would be “taking his talents to South Beach” in what has become one of the most memorable quotes of the last 20 years.

LeBron was widely scrutinized for his decision to hold a live broadcast of his free agency decision, but I have always been of the mindset that he did so for the right reasons. LeBron was able to donate over $2 million to Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and that does not include the millions of dollars that his corporate sponsors threw in as well.

I’ll never forget “The Decision.” But think it is important for people to remember it wasn’t all egocentric. It has certainly been interesting to watch LeBron’s career since this day 11 years ago, and one can only imagine what will happen next.
