Song of the Day:
Affirmative Action – Nas (ft. The Firm)
Nas re-released his famous “It Was Written” album yesterday and I had to highlight one of my favorite tracks. Nas is one of my favorite old-school rappers and his combination of effortless flow and intense lyricism cemented his status as an all-time great. Great summertime music and one of the greatest rappers of all-time (not to mention one of the greatest artists-turned-entrepreneurs!).
Positive Quote of the Day:
“The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here so nobly advanced.” – Abraham Lincoln
Honest Abe missed the mark a little bit here as we certainly have not forgotten the events that happened at Gettysburg. A landmark victory for the Union during the Civil War, this battle is remembered as one of the greatest battles in the history of warfare.
What Makes Today Special?
On this day in 1863, the Battle of Gettysburg, which is the largest battle ever fought on the American continent, ended in a major victory for the Union during the US Civil War.
