Song of the Day:

Mike Tyson Flow – Lil’ Wayne

Mixtape Weezy was arguably the greatest rapper of all time. Being in middle school and high school during Wayne’s prime was such a cool experience and I would assume that kids that grew up in Tupac and Biggie’s time felt the same way; What other rapper had shirts at every boardwalk in 2008 with their names on them supporting their candidacy for President?

No Ceilings, Dedication, Da Drought, the list goes on. One of the GOAT’s.

Positive Quote of the Day:

“A champion shows who he is by what he does when he’s tested. When a person gets up and says ‘I can still do it’, he’s a champion.” – Evander Holyfield

What Makes Today Special?

24 years ago today, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield fought for the title of Heavyweight Champion of the World. In their first bout, Holyfield shocked the world by beating Tyson when he was thought to be at his peak. And in June 1997, Tyson fought for the chance to regain his title of Heavyweight Champion of the World. The rest is history:

Not only did he bite Holyfield’s ear, he did it twice in the same round. In the beginning of the third round he went for the ear and only got a nibble. Not satisfied with the sweet taste of flesh he received in the first attempt, Mike went for seconds and bit off a significant portion of Holyfield’s ear, leading to a stoppage in the fight and Holyfield retaining his belt as Heavyweight Champ.

Mike Tyson reveals he gave Evander Holyfield his ear back after biting it off in legendary fight

It all came crashing down for Tyson, now known by the younger generation as the “guy from The Hangover,” and unfortunately his ear-biting incident is what he is best known for outside of the boxing community.

Fortunately, Tyson seems to have turned his life around the past few years. And his role in The Hangover is forever legendary.
