Song of the Day:

Successful – Drake ft Trey Songz & Lil’ Wayne

This is my all-time favorite beach song. Quite random but I remember sitting on the beach by myself in Ventnor listening to this song on repeat. An all-star cast of artists and a smooth hook that still plays today. One of my favorite Drake songs by far and super relaxing.

I of course have to include the Soulja Boy version here as well since he is the creator of everything. Legend.

Positive Quote of the Day:

ā€œThe heart of man is very much like the sea, it has its storms, it has its tides, and in its depths it has its pearls too.ā€ ā€“ Vincent Van Gogh (Yes, the same guy who cut his ear off said this beautiful quote. What a guy.)

What Makes Today Special?

On June 25th, 1984, Prince released his “Purple Rain” album, widely regarded as one of the best albums of all time. Prince’s impact on music as a whole is still felt in basically every song you listen to, and Purple Rain is arguably the best in his catalog.

Kick back, crush a Kenwood, and listen to some Purple Rain this weekend.

The New Map of New Jersey

This is my final weekend at the Jersey Shore prior to moving to the Midwest. So, I felt like I should take this opportunity to educate those not familiar with the geographic layout of New Jersey in an attempt to dispel any and all rumors of me being a guido.

Here is a map of the beautiful state of New Jersey featuring the newly minted “Jersey Equator”:

Below we have the upper half of New Jersey. If you go to the shore in any of these counties, you are most likely a guido. These are shore points like Seaside Heights (Jersey Shore TV show), Belmar, and a bunch of other beaches with bars that smell of hair gel, fake tanner, Timbs, and Red Bull Vodkas.

I will use my pals in this picture below to give you the most accurate depiction of what you can find at a North Jersey beach bar:

And below we have the wonderful, clean, luxurious South Jersey. I have said for years that South Jersey deserves to be its own state. South Jersey is a place of tranquility, education, and people that don’t scream and yell at you how many championships their teams won even though they weren’t alive for 98% of them.

Here is a look at what you can expect from the fine folks of South Jersey beaches:

A smile can change the world ā€“ But don't stop there - Pittsburgh Parent

I mean look at these smiling folks. Not a worry in sight. Just living in the moment. Whether you’re inĀ Sea Isle City, Margate. Ventnor, Longport, or Ocean City, (North Jersey can have Atlantic City) South Jersey will be the spot for you. No New Yorkers invading our territory, no Axe body spray dominating your nasal passages, and a 96% decrease in bar brawls (per the State of NJ’s most recent reports) compared to that of our Northern bretheren.

I am in Sea Isle City right now, so that clearly means I am not a guido. And when you are bashing New Jersey on social media this summer, please make sure to only bash North Jersey. That place really sucks.

Go Birds.
