#TheDailySteez – Father’s Day Edition

Song of the Day

Killing Me Softly – Frank Sinatra

A little backstory here. Growing up, my Dad only played oldies in the car; As a kid it drove me absolutely crazy. What kid wants to sit there and listen to a song made 50 years prior to being born? Well, I finally understand why now.
My Dad has a unique taste in music, and so do I. And his favorite artist is Frank Sinatra. As I’ve gotten older, I have grown to appreciate all music/genres. And I really have my Dad to thank for that. And now every time I hear Franky belting out some classics, I immediately think of my Dad. And I really love that.

Positive Quote of the Day

“A father is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding lig.ht whose love shows us the way.”

What Makes Today Special?

It’s Father’s Day. And this Father’s Day is a little different for myself and my family:

I am a week away from moving to Chicago, my parents are moving out of my childhood home, and the uncertainty of when I will get to see my family next is something that I have never had to worry about before. But I am SO lucky to have an amazing and supportive family that has been and will be there every step of the way for me.

My Dad is a truly unbelievable human being. He acts like he is in the FBI and doesn’t like too much personal info about him being shared on the internet so I am going to keep this short, but I am really the luckiest guy in the world to get to call him my Dad.

I have learned so much from the way he treats people and goes about life. Whether it be business, baseball, or life in general, he has always been there for our family and puts us before anything else. My Dad is universally beloved and I am so proud to be his son.

Thanks for everything Pops, I love you.

One more thing: One of my best friends growing up lost his Dad last week. Mr. M was a special guy who loved baseball more than just about anyone else. Thinking about my buddy and his family today, and will always cherish all of the memories we shared with Mr. M. Rest in peace. 🙏
