NHL Trade Deadline Tracker

It’s deadline day in the NHL and easily one of my favorite days of the year! I’ll have you covered all day long right here in this blog with every trade that goes down today. Do yourself a favor and bookmark this blog because I’ll be updating it as soon a trade breaks.

Like I said in the beginning of this blog I’ll be here with you all day updating the blog as trades happen. I’ll still update every hour even if nothing goes down. So strap in because hopefully we are in for an exciting day full of trades…

We are live and tuned into the TSN NHL Tradecentre show! It’s early still so things are pretty quiet right now but there has been some talks of possible deals being worked on. One of the names being brought up is Jamie Oleksiak the defenseman from the Dallas Stars who according to Jimmy Hayes may be heading to the Edmonton Oilers.

Nothing is official yet, but Hayes has broken trades before so don’t be shocked if this gets done pretty soon. The other name being talked about is Alex Iafallo who has been working on an extension with the LA Kings but if that doesn’t get done he could be traded today.

A surprising name that has gained some traction is Coyotes forward Conor Garland. He is a restricted free agent after this year and has been a bright spot for the Yotes and could be a nice asset to a contending team. Teams are definitely making calls about him it’s just a matter if the price is worth the Coyotes giving him up.

Into the 10am hour and still not all that much going on but the west coast is just waking up so I’m expecting things to pick up over the next hour or so. In what I have touched on in a blog before there’s a possibility that the Philadelphia Flyers could move forward Scott Laughton as he is a pending UFA and would be a great role player for a contending team. It’s going to take the Flyers a big offer to part ways with Laughton but teams are calling about him and he’s gaining a lot of interest according to Craig Custance.

Not much going on during this hour but this is as expected as things typically don’t get going until we get closer to deadline time. We have seen some things about guys that will more than likely not be moved though as Alex Iafallo is closing in on an extension with the Kings and the Sabres look to be holding on to goaltender Linus Ullmark.

Not much happening still but we still have 3 hours until the deadline. There’s been a few more things coming out about some guys who might be on the move. As a Flyers fan I’m getting a little nervous that Fletcher is going to do something I am not going to like. Whether that means he trades someone who he shouldn’t or he does nothing at all I just have this weird feeling I’m going to be angry with him today.

We could see some goaltenders on the move if the price is right and some names to watch for are Antti Raanta and possibly even one of the Blue Jackets goaltenders. What’s everyone doing for lunch?

SOUND THE ALARMS!!!! First trade of the afternoon….

So the noon hour has gotten off to a hot start, we had our first trade and the Ottawa Senators claimed defenseman Victor Mete off waivers. The Dallas Stars claimed Sami Vatanen off Waivers as well and everyone else who was placed on waivers cleared.

The Devils trade defenseman Dmitry Kulikov to the Edmonton Oilers for a 2022 conditional draft pick.

It is also being reported by Anthony SanFilippo that the Flyers could be in talks with Vegas about a possible trade involving Nolan Patrick. As you can see from his tweets below nothing is done as of yet but there is interest from the Knights end so it’s something to keep an eye on.

The flood gates may have started to open when it comes to the trades….

Chicago Blackhawks trade Matthew Highmore to the Vancouver Canucks for Adam Gaudette

Not as active of an hour as I thought it was going to be but we had some action which is better than nothing and things could pick up as we get closer to the 3pm deadline.

Once again really not much going on but we did have another trade…

Blackhawks trade 2021 2nd round pick and a 2022 3rd round pick to Vegas in exchange for Mattias Janmark and a 2022 5th round pick

We did get a contract extension for Alex Iafallo who was rumored to be traded if they couldn’t get it done but will now be staying in LA for the next four years. Teams also believe that while the Flyers were shopping Scott Laughton it looks like he will be staying in Philadelphia as they are working on an extension.

With the addition of Janmark for Vegas it seems like Nolan Patrick is now out of the picture for them and he will also more than likely stay in Philadelphia.

Into the final hour before the deadline and its crickets right now on all fronts. Will things pickup? Who knows.

Well we got a little action so far here 30 minutes away from the deadline as the Flyers re-signed Scott Laughton and we got a trade between the Hawks and Avs.

Colorado trades Josh Dickinson and Ryder Rolston to Chicago in exchange for Carl Soderberg.

Now the trades are starting to come in…

Calgary trades Sam Bennett to Florida in exchange for 2nd round pick and a prospect

Flyers trade Erik Gustafsson to Montreal in Exchange for 7th Round pick

Ducks trade Ben Hutton to Toronto for Mid round draft pick

Hurricanes trade Haydn Fleury to the Ducks in exchange for Jani Hakanpaa and a 6th round pick

Flyers trade Michael Raffl to Washington for a 5th round pick

Canucks trade Jordie Benn to Winnipeg in exchange for 2021 6th round pick

Chicago trades Madison Bowey and a 2021 5th round pick to Vancouver in exchange for 2021 4th round pick

Detroit trades Anthony Mantha to the Washington Capitals in exchange for Richard Panik, Jacob Vrana, a 1st and 2nd round draft pick.

Looks like the deals have stopped coming in but we’ve had some big ones and its been another fun deadline day even if it was slow.

Last night we had a few trades that went down including one of the biggest names being moved in Taylor Hall. There were also a few other minor moves that went down as well. Here’s a quick breakdown of the trades from last night…

Buffalo Sabres trade Taylor Hall and Curtis Lazar to the Boston Bruins in exchange for Anders Bjork and a 2021 2nd round pick.

The Calgary Flames trade goaltender David Rittich to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a 2022 3rd round pick.

The Ottawa Senators traded defenseman Mike Reilly to the Boston Bruins in exchange for a 2022 3rd round pick.
