The shorthanded Flyers are getting some reinforcements for tonight’s matchup against the New York Rangers. Captain Claude Giroux will be back in the lineup for the first time since coming off the COVID list. While last week the Flyers were able to steal a point, tonight they will be looking to come away with two. While the Flyers are starting to get healthy, the Rangers seem to be heading in the other direction as they will be without some key guys for tonight’s game.
As you can see those three guys will all be out when the Rangers take the ice. I wrote about why Panarin is out as he is taking a leave of absence from the team which you can read why here…
As for the other two, Kaapo Kakko is still on the COVID list and Filip Chytil is about two weeks away from returning from injury.
For the Flyers, Giroux is back tonight as I mentioned and Justin Braun could be back for Saturdays game.
We haven’t heard too much of an update on the rest of the guys on the COVID list but there are hopes they could be back by next week so we will just have to wait and see.
Carter Hart gets the night off after a rough game against the Bruins on Sunday night in Lake Tahoe. That means Brian Elliott gets the nod between the pipes and he has been great so far this season.
The Flyers will need a much better performance from everyone tonight and I expect them to be ready to go. Captain Claude is going to have the boys fired up and I think they have a nice bounce back game tonight.
