Naomi Osaka is freaking awesome. I want to make sure I start with that. 23 years old, 6 career titles, and a future that looks brighter by the day. Not only is she a force on the court, but she is also quickly reaching Serena levels of impact from a cultural perspective. Naomi Osaka really is the total package and is someone that everyone should be rooting for.
Last night Naomi played against the GOAT – Serena Williams – in the Australian Open Semifinal in which she won 6-3, 6-4 to advance and play American Jennifer Brady (PA native!) at 3:30 AM ET(!!!) on Saturday.
This isn’t the first time Naomi beat Serena, but still a huge win nonetheless. I was watching highlights on ESPN this morning and I thought my eyes were deceiving me when I saw the below:
A funny message to her sister Mari, right? Love it. A little playfulness for the world to try to dissect. I would love to know what those “werid images” are that Mari is throwing in the group chat. But that’s not the important part of the above photo.“Werid.” To the naked eye, the sentence reads perfectly. But the “misspelling” of werid got me thinking: Have we been spelling weird wrong this whole time? Does the dictionary need to update their spelling of the word to reflect what the Queen has written? In my humble opinion, the answer is a resounding YES.

I joke about the above as a way of highlighting the awesomeness of Naomi Osaka. She really is THE athlete that we will be rooting for on the court for the next 2-3 decades, as well as off the court as she serves as an inspiration to so many people looking to find their path in life.So keep killing it Naomi, you’re a legend and a great person.
Also, YBN Cordae is her boyfriend and a pretty damn good rapper. Power couple of the year IMHO.
