With the Nick Sirianni “sweepstakes:” all wrapped up, it appears the Eagles may be finally absent from drama for awhile. Well, knock on wood on that one. But it does raise the question, what are we as Eagles fans going to debate about now? How about the NFL Draft.
We are right on the cusp of serious mock draft season and Daniel Jeremiah just released his mock 1.0. If you do not know who Daniel Jeremiah is, he said of the Eagles first round selection last year, “The Eagles really wanted speed. Reagor provides that. But I just couldn’t pass up my 14th rated player (Justin Jefferson) for my 56th player (Reagor). It’ll be fascinating to follow both of their careers”. So yeah, I trust his judgment and his drafts.

There you have it! The Eagles not only miss on Ja’Marr Chase who goes at #3 but they pass on DeVonta Smith who goes at pick #7. And then you see that little editors note…
How about the Detroit Lions of all people coming to save the day. The news that the team and Matthew Stafford have mutually agreed to part ways shook up the draft immediately. Jeremiah originally had the Eagles taking Alabama cornerback, Patrick Surtain at #6. Devonta Smith was going #7 to the Lions. But after the Stafford news, they are now taking Justin Fields. The Eagles then reverse course and end up with Smith. Surtain will fall to #10…with the Cowboys.
Funny how the circle of life works in the NFL. We are all connected like the NFL version of the movie Valentine’s Day.
Thank goodness this mock draft was switched up because I legitimately would’ve feared for Howie Roseman’s safety.
