Last Meeting: Last night was ugly for the Flyers…Actually I don’t even know that ugly is the right word to use it was that bad. From start to finish it was one of the worst performances we’ve seen from this Flyers team in a very long time. The amount of turnover they had early in the game was just ridiculous. They were lucky to only be down 1-0 after the first period as Carter Hart really kept them in the game early.
The second period though was just a complete disaster. From start to finish nothing went right for the Flyers and the Sabres capitalized in a big way. Buffalo would put up three second period goals to bust the game wide open and head to the third period fully in command.
The Flyers had a brief little spark on offense but weren’t able to actually do anything with it and Buffalo would add their fifth goal just over ten minutes in. Aube-Kubel would ruin the shutout for Carter Hutton and cut the lead to 5-1 but about 15 seconds later he would take a penalty. NAK’s high sticking penalty would result in a double minor which would lead to a power play goal for the Sabres to put the final nail in the coffin for the 6-1 win.
There really wasn’t any positives to take away from this game and tonight the Flyers will need to really bounce back with a much better effort. The loss of Sean Couturier really showed last night and the Flyers will really have to get off to a better start tonight in order to avoid the same result.
