WEDNESDAY FIGHTS!
We have a Wednesday morning/afternoon fights on the east coast folks! In the main event we have a Welterweight matchup between top 10 contenders as #8 Michael Chiesa (+120) faces off against #9 Neil Magny (-140). This is a high level matchup between 2 extremely underrated fighters in my opinion.
A lot of people are saying Neil Magny is the darkhorse in this division. He’s 24-7 and has won 3 straight, but im weary on Magny in this one. His biggest weakness in his game is the ground game, and in this fight he’ll be going against a purple belt in BJJ and one of the best grapplers in the welterweight division. Michael Chiesa is sitting at 17-4 winner of 3 straight as well. In my opinion, i see Chiesa winning this one on the ground, finishing Magny in the 3rd via rear naked choke.
Magny is really good. Don’t get me wrong, there are things that he can neutralize dangerous opponents with and carry him to wins. But, Chiesa can grapple with Magny. He can keep up with Magny’s pace almost for sure. If this fight gets dirty and gritty on the feet and on the ground, Chiesa will welcome this chaos. He’s very comfortable in those deep waters. I’m going to lean with Chiesa’s submission skills on the ground and I trust he can go five rounds with Magny if need be, but this is a very tough one to call. Like I said I see the underdog having himself a big day and one of if not the biggest win of his career.
Other names to look out on this fine ass Wednesday are Roxanne Modffieri vs Vivien Araujo, Matt Schnell vs Tyson Nam, Omari Akmehdov vs Tom Breese is going to be a BANGER to cap off the prelims. And then how bout Khabib’s cousin casually just fighting in the ufc, Umar Nurmagomedov will be on the prelims as well. All in all, this is a decent card, but any card on a Wednesday morning/afternoon is good to me! Lets go!
