Wake Up Philadelphia! Flyers vs Penguins Gameday Preview(Game 2)

It’s going to be really great having the Flyers play just about every other night so you can expect a lot of these gameday previews. Wednesday night was fun and now it’s time to carry that momentum over to tonight’s game.

Start Time: 7:00pm on NBC Sports Philadelphia

Location: Wells Fargo Center

Last Meeting:

Just two days ago the Flyers and Penguins did battle in the regular season opener and man what a fun game it was. The Flyers would pull out a 6-3 win in what was a back and forth contest until the Flyers took over in the third period. The Penguins did get on the board first thanks to a Mark Jankowski goal but the Flyers would respond with two late powerplay goals from JVR and the returning Nolan Patrick.

It turns out Carter Hart is human after all as he tried playing the puck up the ice but Sidney Crosby would bat it down and poke it into the net for a penguins goal to tie the game in the second. It took a until late in the second but “Young Beezer” Joel Farabee would put one past Jarry to give the Flyers a 3-2 lead heading to the third.

The third period would start with a Brandon Tanev goal to tie things up. After that though, it would be all Flyers as it took Michael Raffl about two minutes to give the Flyers the lead back. After that goal the orange and black really took control of the game and on a mad scrambble in front of the net Travis Konecny would shoot the puck towards the net and it would glance off of Oskar Lindblom for another Flyers goal. Kevin Hayes would add another goal to give the Flyers a 6-3 opening night win over their rivals.

Joel Farabee had the breakout game and finished with four points(1g, 3A). All of the Flyers forwards would record at least one point aside from Jake Voracek. While new guy Erik Gustafsson would add two assist from the backend on the two powerplay goals.

Carter Hart was solid in net and when it mattered most he made the saves he needed to in order to get the win.
