SOOOOOOOONNNNKKKKKK!!!!!
I mean I couldn’t start a blog about Keith Yandle any other way it just wouldn’t have made sense. Anyway, the veteran defenseman may be on his way out of the sunshine state. According to TSN Frank Seravalli the Florida Panthers have informed Yandle that he is not in their future plans. A bit of a surprising thing to hear as he hasn’t really had a drastic downfall like some of the other veteran defenseman in the league.
Yandle does come with a big cap hit which could be a problem when trying to deal for him but we have seen teams make it work even when in tight cap crunches. Yandle has two years left on his contract and he also has a no movement clause so any trade the Panthers would want to make would have to go through him first. So what teams could be interested in the SOOOONNNNNKKK King himself?
So far there’s a list of a few teams interested but two teams have expressed the most interest….Those two teams are, the Boston Bruins and the Philadelphia Flyers. Now, this is still just in the early stages but you can bet things will start to heat up over the next few weeks. I think the Bruins are the more likely landing spot for Yandle but the Flyers would be an interesting spot for him to land. As a Flyers fan I wouldn’t hate making the move for Yandle depending on what the cost is.
The wildest part of all of this so far is that Yandle’s Ironman streak may be coming to an end and it won’t be because of an injury. There are talks that he could very well be a healthy scratch once the Panthers start their season. That would be pretty messed up if you ask me. Whether or not he is in your future plans or not I don’t see any better options to put in the lineup for the Panthers instead of Yandle. It’ll be an interesting next few weeks when it comes to this situation and the season is just a few days old and we already have a big name on the trade bait list.
