Unless you’ve been living under a rock, I’m sure you heard about the Houston Rockets trade with the Brooklyn Nets that included perennial all star James Harden. It’s been said that the Sixers were included in trade talks, and the package was built around Sixers foward Ben Simmons, Matisse Thybulle, and multiple first round picks which was eventually declined by the Sixers front.
This is where I am incredibly intrigued. How will Ben Simmons handle this situation moving foward?
Word is that Ben Simmons is relieved that he is staying put in Philly, and remaining a part of the Sixers.
Hearing Ben Simmons was pretty ecstatic to not be traded from the Sixers to Houston for James Harden and believes his team is capable of bringing a title to Philadelphia. Doc Rivers is also a huge fan of Simmons and believes the best is yet to come with two-time NBA All-Star.— Marc J. Spears (@MarcJSpears) January 13, 2021
Moving foward, how will Ben Simmons react? Will he prove to be the player the Philadelphia 76ers fans have longed him to be? The whole country knows he’s a pristine playmaker for others, and that he is one of the top 3 defenders in the league, if not the best defender in the league, but will be finally prove the doubters “including myself” wrong? Will he finally start to be the aggressive freight train driver that he shows glimpses of periodically? Will he start becoming less hesitant of shooting the open shot? Or will he remain the timid and hesitant scorer he has been? Or even worse, will he sulk and complain and become a distraction regarding the trade rumors and the confirmed reports of his almost being dealt to the Rockets?
As a life king Sixers fan I’m really hoping Simmons takes the I’m ready to prove you haters/doubters wrong route and becomes the dominate player CEO JOE sees. I’ll tell you one thing I’ll happily take all the heat and backlash of downing Simmons scoring ability if he proves me wrong. So bring it on, I’m ready for Ben Simmons to get me on Freezing Cold Takes!!!
