Oh boy, not a good sign when a team cancels practice for and they can’t comment on it. As you can see from Matthew DeFranks tweets above the Stars can not comment on the matter and if it is COVID related the league with put out a statement on it.
The NHL has done pretty well to this point to avoid any outbreaks. Their luck may have run out at but we still do not know for sure. Hopefully we can get a little more clarity on the matter in the next few hours.
The Stars first game is set for Thursday January 14th which is just six days away. They would more than likely be without some players if it is indeed a positive test that caused the cancellation.
I’ll do my best to update the story as the day goes on.
UPDATE: 10:00am:

According to Saad Yousuf who covers the Stars for the Athletic it is indeed a positive COVID test that has caused the cancellation of practice.
Update: 12:54pm

6 players and 2 staff members have tested positive for the Stars. Not a good sign for them and hopefully those affected recover quickly.
It now looks like the Stars season may get pushed back to start on the 19th now since they are going to have to close their facility for a few days due to the positive test results. We will have to wait and see how much this impacts their schedule going forward.
