One.last.card. It’s been a hectic 2020 for the UFC and well all 7 billion people on Earth in general. But man oh man am I exhausted from it. There hasn’t been a weekend without a fight night since July 4th. I mean that is absolutely bonkers man. As the UFC prepares for a christmas/new years break, we have one more card for 2020 to breakdown. This will be the last card until January 16th, so it will be a much needed break for all involved here.
We have one of the most stacked cards of the year going down tonight on ESPN+ live from Las Vegas, Nevada in the UFC APEX. 10 ranked fighters will be on the card, with massive implications in each fight. In the main event we have a HUGE Welterweight bout between #5 Stephen Thompson (-110) facing off against #11 Geoff Neal (-120).
I think Wonderboy Thompson get it done here. I think it might be a little too much too early for Neal here. Im not a fan of this matchup for the very talented Geoff Neal. I think Wonderboy is going to be too savvy for him on the feet, and Neal might underestimate him a little. It’s a five-round fight, and I believe Wonderboy can knock Neal out in five rounds. He won’t do it early, but I think after touching him enough times, he’ll knock him out. I see. Thompson winning this by 4th round KO.
In the co-main event we have a WAR between top Bantamweight contender #7 Jose Aldo (-150) vs #15 Marlon Chito Vera (+120) in what is going to be a chaotic fight. I think the fight actually favors Jose Aldo in this one due to it being only 3 rounds. But, man I just have that weird gut feeling that Chito Vera’s stock is sky high after that Sean O’Malley win a few months ago, his confidence is through the roof and I just see him getting the job done vs one of the greatest to ever do it in Jose Aldo. I see Chito Vera making a HUGE statement here with the biggest win of his burgeoning career.
How bout this Welterweight bout between Michel Pereira (-120) vs Khaos Williams (-110)? I mean this might be the fight of the night with the way these guys throw hands and explode with some of the most unique moves you’ll see in the sport. I see Khaos Williams finishing Pereira in what is going to be a battle man. And not gonna lie, I have a wicked hard time picking against a guy named Khaos Williams.
Oh my god now we have another Bantamweight fight between 2 of the best in the division. #3 Marlon Moraes (-155) takes on #11 Rob Font (+125). Now I might be a liiittle bias here because Rob Font is a Boston based fighter and is apart of the New England Cartel, whom is exploding onto the MMA scene at the moment. So you know what, Im going with the upset here. I see Rob Font getting the job done here. But this is for sure the hardest dog to pick here. Marlon Moraes is a legitimate threat to anyone he fights and can finish a fight at any time. I see Rob being able to weather the storm early on and wear down Moraes into the third and maybe take this via split decision. LETS GO ROB!
To open to main card at 7:00 pm tonight, we have some big ole heavyweights going at it as former NFL star Greg Hardy (-125) takes on Marcin Tybura (-105). I have Hardy in this one. He’s only improved since his octagon debut and while Tybura looked phenomenal in his last fight, I think Hardy gets gets the finish early on. Doesn’t matter what you think about Hardy as a person, he’s one of the best athletes in the heavyweight division, if not the best, and he’s getting more and more dangerous the more he fights. Hardy by KO.
Some noticeable fights on the prelims include #12 Anthony Pettis (-225) vs Alex Morono (+175) in a welterweight bout. I think this is too much for Morono at this stage of this career and I see Pettis getting the W here in what very well may be the last fight in the UFC for the great Anthony Pettis. Keep an eye out for this women’s bantamweight fight between #13 Sijara Eubanks (-160) and #14 Pannie Kianzad (+130), as well as #13 Gillian Robertson in the flyweight division.
Man oh man, what a card to end the year. Its been a phenomenal 2020 for the UFC, leading the charge in the covid world in sports. Im proud to be a fan of these fighters and promotion. I’ll have a year end awards blog to recap the year that was in the UFC. LETS GO.
Final Parlay: Thompson, Vera, Williams, Font, Hardy, Pettis.
