Let’s have a Friday people!!!! Huge NHL news on this Friday night as the NHL and NHLPA have agreed on a 56 game season starting January 13th.
Now look, everything is still subject to change but at this point with COVID that should be expected. But as of this very moment we are looking at training camps opening up on the 3rd of January and the season starting on January 13th. As part of the agreement the teams that did not make the bubble in the return to play agreement will actually be able to start training camps on December 30th.
One of the biggest issues still in play is that Canada is super strict with their COVID restrictions so the all Canadian NHL division may end up being played in the US. That may throw a wrench in things but really the only thing it will screw up is the Canadian teams actually having home games. There have also been talks of starting the season with a few bubble cities but we still don’t know if that will actually happen.
The NHL is more than likely scheduling a call with the Board of Governors this weekend which will finalize everything. We are just another step closer to the NHL being back and man does it feel good!
