Ohhh boy we’re back here for THE Branded Sports coming at you with another UFC Fight night card TONIGHT on ESPN2. In the main event we have top Middleweight contenders facing off as #4 Jack Hermansson (21-5) takes on #13 Marvin Vettori (15-4-1) in a crucial matchup.
So a lot of shit went down before this fight. It was originally suppose to be my guy #6 Darren Till fighting Hermansson, which would’ve been must see tv, i mean my god that would’ve been awesome. Till suffered an injury, in comes Kevin Holland. Holland then tests positive for COVID-19 last week. Insert the Italian Marvin Vettori who will be stepping up on short notice to take on Hermansson.
Man oh man, in terms of how this plays out, i’ll tell ya. Jack Hermansson is the 4th ranked Middleweight in the world and is a +110 Underdog. Im not sure why this is the case, 2 opponents cancelling maybe? Not that Vettori can’t beat him, he’s very dangerous, but i dont believe he should be favored tonight.
Vettori is well-rounded and supremely confident. I’m as high on Vettori as just about anyone out there, but he’s fighting another underrated middleweight, Hermansson.
Where I think Hermansson will do really well is blending in his striking and ground game. blending the punches and the takedowns all together. He’s so dangerous on the ground that he can really throw hard, his striking isn’t the best in the division, but what makes it good is the threat of the takedown. All that being said, Vettori is really a guy who flies under the radar. I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves. But, I do think this is a very big step up in competition for him though.
I really like Hermansson in this one as a +110 dog too, great way to make some cash. I see him winning by submission in the 3rd round. I just feel stylistically he matches up tough and he’s been fighting much higher level competition than Vettori.
Here’s a fun little tidbit for ya, Marvin Vettori will be the first Italian to headline a UFC card when he steps in the Octagon tonight. Pretty dam cool. BUT, I’d take Hermansson’s odds tonight.
