It’s A Great Time To Be A Fight Fan

It’s officially December and that means it’s Christmas season which is the best time of year. But not only do we get to get spoiled with all the Christmas things going on we also have a bunch of great fights coming up in the UFC and in boxing as well. I mean the next few months we have some epic fights coming up and it all starts this weekend.

Now, I am more of a UFC fan than I am boxing but I do know enough about boxing to know who the top guys are and the big fights that are coming up. This past weekend we had the return of Mike Tyson as he and Roy Jones fought to a draw in what was an interesting event that you either enjoyed or thought it was just stupid. I was more on the in the middle side, it was cool to see Tyson back in the ring but it wasn’t as entertaining as I had hoped for.

So lets take a look at some of these epic upcoming fights we have….

Errol Spence Jr. vs Danny Garcia (Unified Welterweight Championships) Saturday, Dec 5th

First, this Saturday night we have the return of Errol Spence Jr after a year layoff due to him recovering from a serious car crash. He will defend his welterweight championships against Philadelphia’s own Danny Garcia. This was originally scheduled to take place in Los Angeles but has now been moved to Cowboys Stadium in Dallas. This fight is going to be great, again I’m not a huge boxing guy but I’ve seen enough of these two to know it’s going to be an entertaining fight. Spence is currently undefeated at 26-0 and Garcia is sitting at 36-2. This will be Spence first fight since the car accident so you have to wonder if that will have an impact on the fight at all. Either way if you’re looking for something to watch this weekend I suggest checking this PPV out.

UFC 256: Figueiredo vs Moreno(Flyweight Championship) Saturday, Dec 12th

Next up we have UFC 256 which has been a card that has been changed a few times due to COVID but it is still going to be great to watch. We have in the main event Deiveson Figueiredo defending his Flyweight title for the second time in less than a month after a quick win in his title defense at UFC 255. He will be taking on in my opinion a much tougher challenge as he goes up against Brandon Moreno who has won his last three fights with his last one being a knockout win over Brandon Royval. The main event of this one will be awesome but the Co-main event might end up stealing the show. We have Tony Ferguson stepping in to take on Charles Oliveira in a lightweight bout that is going to be wild. Tony has been trying to get back into the octagon after his KO loss to Justin Gaethje back in May and now he has the chance to put himself back into consideration for another shot at the lightweight Title. The rest of the main card shapes up pretty solid as well so you are definitely not going to want to miss this one.

Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pule(Unified Heavyweight Championship) Saturday, Dec 12th

Now, most of you have probably never heard of Kubrat Pulev and that’s fair because I dont know all that much about him either. Buuuuutttt the dude is 28-1 with 14 wins coming by knockout. Anthony Joshua on the other hand is coming off a win over Andy Ruiz back in December of last year. I’m not really sure what to expect in this one but I’m leaning towards Joshua putting on a dominate performance but we will have to wait and see.

Canelo Alvarez vs Callum Smith(Unified Super Middleweight Championship) Saturday, Dec 19th

Canelo Alvarez returns as he will take on Callum Smith in about two weeks from the Alamodome in San Antonio. The last time we saw Canelo was last November when he knocked out Sergey Kovalev in the 11th round. Canelo is one of the biggest names in boxing right now and he puts on a great show everytime he steps into the ring. This should be no different but it will be no easy task as he takes on the 27-0 Callum Smith. I’d be lying if I said I really knew anything about Smith but I mean 27-0 is pretty good so could be a nice little challenge for Canelo but I still think he wins.

UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs Chimaev- Saturday, Dec 19th

This fight card could easily have been a PPV and we are getting it for free. Now, literally as I had started this blog the main event got canned thanks to a positive test from Leon Edwards. So while we wont see Chimaev vs Edwards we still have a really solid card. Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson and Geoff Neal will now take over as the main event in what should be another good one. We also have a heavyweight bout between Greg Hardy and Marcin Tybura. Jose Aldo is also on this card as he takes on Marlon Vera in a bantamweight bout so I mean while I think most were looking forward to seeing Edwards vs Chimaev this card will still be fantastic and it’s free so why not give it a watch you won’t be disappointed.

UFC 257: McGregor vs Poirier- Saturday, Jan 23rd-

Finally, the one I am most looking forward to coming up at the end of January my guy Conor McGregor is back and is taking on Dustin Poirier in what is going to be an instant classic. The rest of this card is still being finalized so we don’t know everything that is going to be on it yet. Regardless, any card that has the King Conor McGregor main eventing it is always a great card. It’s a great way to get the 2021 fight year started and hopefully it leads to a few more McGregor fights during 2021.
