UFC 255 takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas where we will see 2 world championship fights and some other great scraps on the card as well. Lets get right into it.
The Main event: Brazilian champion Deiveson Figueiredo (19-1) will attempt to defend his title for the first time, against California’s Alex Perez (24-5), who stepped in for the injured Cody Garbrandt. This is gonna be an awesome fight. Figueiredo is a heavy favorite for very good reasons though. He’s a -300 favorite while Perez is at +230 dog here. I like Figueiredo winning this fight, but that doesnt mean Perez can’t pull off the upset. He certainly can. Figueiredo and Perez are similar in that they both have power in both hands. They like to go forward and look for the finish. I think Figueiredo is more powerful than Perez. That’s why I love this sport, though, maybe Perez can win. I do think Figueiredo is a little bit slow. He doesn’t have combinations, he throws one punch at a time, maybe two. A Combination of speed and power will be key for victory for either of these men. I see Figueredo finishing this in the later rounds.
The Co Main: Valentina Shevchenko (19-3) will be seeking her fourth title defense against first-time challenger Jennifer Maia (18-6-1). Shevchenko has made her first three defenses look easy, and no one expects her to lose the title any time soon. Just look at the fucking odds man. Shevchenko is a -1800 favorite while Maia is sitting as a +850 dog. I mean for a title fight? That is BONKERS. That is how good Valentina Shevchenko is. No one in her division is even close to her. How does this fight play out? I’ll tell ya. Valentina Shevchenko is going to fuck up Jennifer Maia and light her up like a goddam Christmas tree. This has potential to be a straight up massacre. Valentina is just too dominant of a champion. I feel like Jennifer Maia is tough and durable, but that only gets you so far. I feel like the only thing Valentina needs to watch out for is the ground game. Her striking is just too solid and dominant, she doesn’t even have to go to the ground most of the time. Valentina will this in the first 2 rounds by KO. It will be a dominant clinic of a performance.
Some other awesome fights to watch out for on the card, how bout an awesome Flyweight fight main eventing the prelims on ESPN2. Brandon Moreno vs Brandon Rawdawg Royval is going to be fight of the night in my opinion. This could be a number 1 contender’s bout depending on how quickly Garbrandt can come back from his torn biceps. But man, if one of these guys has a stellar finish, they could easily have the next shot at the title. I really really like the dog in this one, Brandon Royval at a +155 dog right now is awesome. Take him and win some money.
2 other dogs i really like on this card are Tim Means at +110 who will throw the fuck down with Mike Perry in the 3rd slot on the PPV. Mike Perry missed weight and I expect this to not go well for him.
If you remember Joaquin Buckley’s INSANE KO the other month, you’ll recognize he’s on this card. He’s favored because vegas odds are a popularity contest. They dont REALLY know fighting. He’s a -270 favorite? Yea ok dude had one crazy KO, he’s not the second coming of Anderson Silva. Im taking his opponent Jordan Wright as a +210 dog. HAMMER this.
I also like MMA legend Shogun Rua as a +145 dog to open the card. My other pick on the main card is Cynthia Calvillo as a -270 favorite.
Overall, lots of dogs to win lots of money on this card. To recap my predictions are Figueiredo, Shevchenko, Means, Calvillo, Shogun Rua, Royval and Wright. Also how WILD is it Shevchenko’s sister is on the same card as her. Wtf was that family like growing up? My goodness.
This isn’t a stellar card for the casual fans, but for hardcore degenerates like myself, there are some AWESOME fights on this card. 2 title fights as well. If you want to see a massacre, make sure to watch the womens flyweight title bout. Can’t miss Shevchenko compete.
If you read this far, im assuming you’re betting on my picks. Best of luck. Lets win some cash!
