One of the greatest Mixed Martial Artists we have ever know will grace the Octagon one final time on Saturday night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada as Anderson “The Spider” Silva (+185) will take on #10 Uriah Hall (-235)in a Middleweight main event.
I think the casual fan probably best knows Anderson Silva more so than any other fighter. Its close. He was a MEGA star back in the day and if he never got popped for PED’s and maybe even hung up the gloves a much longer time ago, he’d easily be in the GOAT conversation. You could make the argument he is certainly one of the 4 or 5 best we have ever seen and could even be on MMA’s Mount Rushmore.
I’ve gotta go with the younger Uriah Hall in this one. I just can’t see a 45-year-old Anderson Silva pulling this off. If he does, I think that’s the way to go out. It’s unfortunate that they’re letting him continue to fight when he hasn’t won a fight in so long. If he doesn’t win that Derek Brunson fight, you’re talking eight years he hasn’t won a fight. It’s not going to get any easier at all.
I would gamble on Hall tonight and im a huge fan of #15 Bryce Mitchell in the co-main spot vs # 15 Andre Fili in a very high level Bantamweight bout, I’d take him as a -140 tonight for sure.
Another name of notable recognition is going to be Greg Hardy tonight. Im not a huge fan of him personally but i would be lying if I didnt get excited before his fights, its always interesting to see how the former NFL all pro is going to perform. Although he did almost become the first heavyweight in history to miss weight yesterday, he ended up making it, but that for sure makes me weary of his odds tonight. I would take his opponent Maurice Green as a +260 dog tonight.
Overall, this is a good card tonight. I feel bad watching a 45 year old Silva about to go out on his back, but that happens to some of the best in this sport. Its rare we get a Khabib or GSP that hang them up at seemingly the mountain top. Anderson will struggle against Hall, but it would be pretty dam surreal to see him pull out one more W.
