First Time Voters

Election day is less than a week away now. I have been registered to vote since 2012. I was so proud to vote for the first time knowing that my voice could make a difference. I have been a loyal voter since then.  I personally believe it is very important that Americans should go out and use their voice to vote. As I have been scrolling on social media, I have been coming across celebrities who have been voting for the very first time. Let me tell ya, I have been shocked by some of these first time voters.

1.Selena Gomez

Slide 6 of 52: "It was Ryan's first time. He was understandably scared. It all happened so fast. Like, REALLY fast. He wept. I pretended to weep. Then he called all his friend. #voteearly" --Blake Lively, who posted this voting photo with husband Ryan Reynolds on Instagram on Oct. 22, 2020 -- then called herself out for drawing shoes on her pic

6. Tan France

Slide 7 of 7: The Queer Eye host got his citizenship in June, and had his eye on the prize the whole time: "And now, I will exercise my constitutional right as an American. Today, I will register to vote, and vote for the change I wish to see in OUR nation," he wrote the day he became a citizen. Recently he addressed critics on his Instagram who felt he was being too political. "When I talk about voting, I talk about it for this reason: It's because I feel so much hope for our country," he said. "I have a vision for our country that brings me so much joy and so much hope ... I love America so much and know it can be so much better than it is"

7. Tyler, the Creator

8. Gregg Sulkin

9. Kelsea Ballerini

Slide 22 of 52: "...embarrassingly but honestly, this is my first time voting. Im not proud of it, but my naivety has kept me sheltered through a lot of my young adult life. BUT. As I've listened and learned, I've realized its our responsibility and privilege to use our voices to establish what we as human beings with beating hearts want to see in this country for not only ourselves...but our friends, neighbors, strangers, and future generations. The political climate this election is intense. It can feel really overwhelming and scary to even have an opinion, knowing if you share it you will get ruthlessly criticized regardless of your platform or perspective. There's a lot of noise…but I've learned that's when it's most important to be anything but silent. And our vote is our voice. America stands for so many beautiful things and I hope (and vote) that it continues to evolve and grow to be a place where EVERYONE is protected, respected, and given equal rights and opportunity. Left the polls feeling really empowered by exercising my right and showing up for what I believe in and the change I want to see. I encourage everyone to do the same. 🗳" --Kelsea Ballerini, who posted this on Instagram on Oct. 16, 2020
