The Arizona Coyotes are in a bad way, loosing picks and player galore. They are facing what is ultimately going to be a competitive rebuild as they try to accumulate back what they lost. It was to soon for them to give up the farm for Taylor Hall. According to Elliotte Friedman, The Flyers are still shopping for a veteran defensemen to fill Nisky’s departure.
The Coyotes are trying to shed some cap space, and 32-year-old dman Jason Demers has one year left on his contract, he is a big in your face defensemen. I remember him best on the Sharks elite D core back in the day, but his play has been in decline.
The 186th pick in the 2008 draft has 45 goals and 165 assists in his career. He is not an offensively minded defensemen like Ghost or Gustafsson, he is like an older more skilled Robert Hagg.
The problem is he makes almost $4 million and the Flyers still have players in house that need to be signed. I personally would not like the Flyers to add Demers, he’s just older, and The Flyers really don’t need any more defensemen. If they do, they need a top two player, not a bottom two defensemen. If he comes in, I think that means Ghost is gone. I would still like to see him get another crack at the lineup or a possible transition to offense. The number 55 does look fire on a Flyers uniform.
He could do it.
