Flyers Sending Goalies Overseas And Prospect Updates

Intern Mitch

With the SHL, KHL, and most other European leagues back in play, teams and players are taking advantage of this and sending prospects overseas. They have recently, not today, sent goalies Kirill Ustimenko and Felix Sandstrom over the pond. Kirill is playing in the Belarus league, and Sandtrom is playing in the HockeyAllsvenskan in Sweden.

One thing to note, getting stats for players in these lesser known European leagues is a nightmare.

Maxim Sushko– Dinamo Misnk- KHL

2019-20 Philadelphia Flyers prospect review: Maksim Sushko - Broad Street Hockey

The Flyers 2017 107th overall pick has had a very interesting start to his first and hopefully final stint in the KHL. Belarus along with Dinamo Minsk, COVID outbreaks, and civil unrest to name a few. The team has sadly had quite a few games canceled because of these reasons. So far in 9 games Maxim has only recorded one goal. I also realized I have been spelling his name wrong for years. Dinamo has 20 forwards on their list, so it’s not surprising that Maxim is not in every single game. Add on to this plethora of fun, he’s injured. Dinamo is 9-5 in 15 games.

Linus Sandin- HV71 SHL

Linus Sandin Signed to Entry-Level Contract

The SHL is just getting going here with about 7 games already played, and in those 7 games are boy Linus has put up 2 goals and 3 assists. Not quite a point per game player, but he could be with a few solid games. I am really happy with the signing and the production thus far. He put up 36 points last season in 51 games, so he is looking consistent. Hopefully he can get up to the 60 point range and keep projecting up.

David Kase– HC Energie Karlovy Vary- Extraliga

The Extraliga is another European league that is struggling. HC Energie has only played three games, due to a massive amount of the others getting canceled. Luckily in those four games, David Kase has had three assist. Hoping they can get this going at some point and get more games in the Extraliga.

German Rubstov– HC Sochi- KHL

Now healthy, center German Rubtsov trying to work his way into Flyers' plans

I generally try to get a picture of the player on their current team, but I could not get one of him in Sochi besides his profile pic. Come to find out, he is injured, Flyers prospects in the KHL are having a great season. In 9 games with HC Sochi has has 1 goal and 1 assist. HC Sochi’s jerseys are terrible, I am going to plug this whenever I can.

Linus Hodgberg– HC Vita Hasten- HockeyAllsvenskan

Flyers loan Linus Hogberg to Swedish Allsvenskan League

The HockeyAllsvenskan is just starting up as well. HC Vita Hasten has only played three games. The Flyers 5th round pick in 2016 has been held off of the score sheet in those three games, only getting two penalty minutes. He only recorded 14 points in 50 SHL games last year. This is sort of worrisome for me as the HA is a tier below the SHL, but he still has time to get them together.

It also does not look like Kirill Ustimenko and Felix Sandtrom have played in any games yet this season. I will be updating on these players every Tuesday. If more players get loaned, I will add them to the list!
