A few days ago I put out a blog about who the Flyers could snag with the 23rd overall pick. The answer is, some really solid players. My original plan was to have a blog on each round, but the Flyers traded their third rounder this year. So maybe I will look into the 4th round, but no one really cares after the third from what I have seen in the hockey fandom, unless your a super fan like me. The Flyers are picking 54th overall in the 2020 draft. So I am going to be going over who each of these three sites have going 54th overall on their sites.
So lets get into it!
Oliver Suni- Right Wing- Oshawa (OHL)
So draftsite.com has the Sharks picking 54th overall, but the Flyers are. I personally hope the Flyers snag University of Denver forward Carter Savoie if he is still on the board. Oliver is from Finland, and is currently playing for the Oshawa Generals in the OHL and just wrapped up his first season cause of COVID. He put up 32 points in 43 games, 12 goals and 20 assists. I think most of his allure comes from his time playing for Karpat’s U18 team. Where he put up 82 points in 64 games before coming across the pond. He is a big 6’2″ winger, who will only get bigger. But I am a full fan of Carter with this pick if he is available. Also important to note that Scott Laughton and a little known Flyers player Eric Lindros, both played for the Generals.
Sean Farrell- Center/Left Wing- USA NTDP
So mynhldraft.com has Chicago taking Sean Farrell 54th overall, but that is where the Flyers pick. Sean Farrell looks like a stud, and is a good ole Massachusetts boy. Hes currently slated to skate for Harvard in the upcoming NCAA season. Fingers crossed it happens. Sean has experienced success everywhere hes gone. He recently played for the Chicago Steel in the USHL and put up 56 points in 44 games. He also played a load of games for the USNTP and has to many stats to count here. He’d be great in a Flyers uniform, and I feel like would be an immediate dark horse to make the Flyers roster after he gets drafted.
Jean-Luc Foudy- Center- Windsor (OHL)
So the hockeywriters.com has Jean-Luc Foudy going 54th overall, and I love this guy. Mostly because of his family. His brother Liam had a very impressive showing in the NHL bubble and both of his parents had success in sports as well. His father Sean was a CFL player and his mother, France, was an Olympic sprinter. Hes played two seasons for the Spitfires in the OHL putting up 92 points in 122 games. Hes a assist machine, putting up 41 in his first season. He would be a solid middle six player for the Flyers.
Obviously all these players may be taken way before the Flyers at 54. Chuck could even trade up and snag an absolute gem in the first 5 picks in the second round like he did last year when he snagged Bobby Brink, who was believed to be a late first rounder. We will see come October!
