The Road to 1st Place (& some picks for the weekend)

It’s the end of August and apparently the Phillies season is not dead. Some of you may say it’s because the season started late but I’ve turned my head and certainly don’t know what you’re talking about.

NL East Standing as of 8/28

The Phillies play the Braves this weekend and it definitely should be on your watch list. With a 3 game sweep (don’t count on it) the Phillies will only be 1 game back from first place.

Although the bullpen has been horrible, to say the least, they MIGHT be on the upswing. The Phillies started the Nationals series with an 8.00 ERA but have pitched very well the two games in that series. In the 2 game series, the bullpen pitched 6 innings only allowing 1 Earned Run(YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT). With 3 new assets added to the bullpen, they are going to be very crucial pieces in the outcome of the Phillies being contenders for this National League East Tittle. (I’m sure you already knew that)
