I’m currently on vacation drinking an endless amount of beers and getting way too sunburnt for my own good. After seeing the latest blogger power rankings here at Branded and coming in at #7, I for one am NOT satisfied with making the top 10 in the first edition since i’ve been here. I want that number one spot and once I get it I don’t plan on ever falling out of it.So, thats why I’m here to give you another edition of Walsh’s Stanley Cupdate…
Philadelphia Flyers vs Montreal Canadiens(Game 4)
The first game of the afternoon saw my boys in orange and black trying to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series against the Montreal Canadiens. The Flyers would strike first as Michael Raffl in only his second game back would but a nice little wrist shot past Carey Price to give them the 1-0 lead early in the first period. That would be the only goal we would see in the tight checking first period. The second period was just as tight checking as the first. With just over three minutes left in the second period Phil Myers would take what looked like an innocent looking shot that would handcuff Price and find the back of the net. The Flyers would take a 2-0 lead heading to the third period. The boys would shut down the Habs for the entire third period and Cattah Haht would get his second consecutive shutout and the Flyers are one win away from moving on.
Flyers lead series 3-1
Calgary Flames vs Dallas Stars(Game 5)
The second game of the afternoon saw the Dallas Stars going up against the Calgary Flames in game 5 of what has been an exciting series. This was a tight checking back and forth game the entire way. Dallas struck first in the first period only to see Calgary come back down and tie it before the period ended. We would stay tied at 1 until the third period. John Klingberg would give the Stars the early third period lead and the would hold onto it the rest of the way. Stars win 2-1, game 6 is Thursday.
Dallas leads series 3-2
Washington Capitals vs New York Islanders(Game 4)
Probably the most surprising first round series so far has seen the New York Islanders taking a 3-0 series lead on the Washington Capitals. They were going for the sweep here in game four. It was looking like the Islanders would be the first team to move on to the next round as they got out to a 2-0 lead. The Caps would come storming back and would put up three unanswered goals. Ovechkin would score two of the three including the game winner. Game 5 is Thursday.
Islanders lead series 3-1
Chicago Blackhawks vs Vegas Golden Knights(Game 5)
The second series that could’ve came to an end as the Vegas Golden Knights looked to close out the series against the Blackhawks. The Hawks gave the Knights all they could handle even getting out to a 2-0 lead. The Knights would storm back and tie it at 2. Patrick Kane would not let the Hawks go down without a fight as he would put the Hawks up 3-2 four minutes into the second period. But, just three minutes later Alec Martinez would strike tying the game at 3. Alex Tuch would score just a minute and change into the third and that would be enough for the Knights to pick up the 4-3 win and send the Blackhawks home.
Knights win series 4-1
