What to Expect From UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs Oleinik

Tonight from the UFC Apex, we have an outstanding Heavyweight main event between #4 Derrick Lewis and #10 Aleksei Oleinik.

“My balls was hot”

I meaaaan how can I pick against my guy Derrick Lewis. He’s the 4th ranked heavyweight in the world at the moment and his knockout power is still extremely evident. However, Aleksei Oleinik is a straight up SAVAGE on the ground. If this is a fight that ends up on the ground, this could end in a hurry. Derrick Lewis, on the other hand, has 31 professional fights and only 1 submission loss, vs Daniel Cormier. So, it’s not like this would be an easy task for Oleinik, taking down Lewis is going to be super difficult for him.

As both of these large heavyweights are on 2 fight winning streaks, a win here is vital for either if they wish to challenge for the world title one day.  If Lewis wins here, there’s nowhere else to go for him except against a top-tier opponent. I could see the UFC booking him against Blaydes. Miocic vs. Cormier is set for the heavyweight title a week later and Ngannou is likely next for the winner of that bout. Blaydes is the next man in line behind that trio. Lewis has done enough to earn another contender fight if he can beat the surging Oleinik.

We have a cool co main event with legend Chris Weidman trying to find his groove back at Middleweight fighting against #11 Omari Akhmedov. Im a big Weidman guy, especially since he enters to Tom Petty Wont Back Down, song is such a banger.

Weidman’s name carries weight. He’s a former world champion at Middleweight and is destined for Hall of Fame induction upon retirement. Weidman has only fought bona fide stars for nearly a decade. Even with a 1-5 record since losing his title, Weidman would be easily Akhmedov’s biggest win in a 13-fight UFC career. I really want to see Weidman pull it off this week, and i believe he can get back on the winning track.

Another low key fight to watch out for from the UFC Apex in Vegas are Beneil Dariush vs Scott Holtzman opening the main card, The former because Dariush is always a tough out and has looked good as of late, winning four in a row with his last three victories coming via impressive finishes. I’d throw money on him for sure.

AlL IN ALL, not a bad card,  but really just an appetizer for next weekends INSANE card capping it off with Cormier vs Miocic. Good LAWD i am PUMPED. WOO!

Mac out.
