Conor McGregor Agreed To Fight Who?

“I accept!”

This has the Jordan “I’m back” fax feel to it from McGregor here. Back on July 30th McGregor sent out that tweet and rumors have been flying since. He retired a few months back and I think we all knew it wasn’t permanent. But, now maybe just maybe we may be getting closer and closer to another McGregor fight.

The tweet was sent out just a few days after the UFC Fight Night where up and coming Khamzat Chimaev put on his second dominate performance in less than ten days. Smartly, he called out McGregor as the kid is trying to make a name for himself. Then on the same day before McGregor tweeted out the I accept tweet, Tony Ferguson said he was open to fighting either Conor or Dustin Poirier to determine the next number one contender for the Lightweight Title.

So who was Conor saying I accept to? Well, the smart money is on Tony Ferguson as there is literally no reason for Conor to even consider Chimaev until he fights and beats a household name. As for Ferguson, in my opinion this is the fight that should be made if Conor is indeed coming out of retirement. But, there’s another name that’s been floating around and that name is Manny Pacquiao…

While the super fight between Mayweather and McGregor was fun and the build up was even better, I don’t want to see McGregor in a boxing ring again. We’ve seen it, he did better than I think most people expected but still lost. Even with Pacquiao’s age, I still don’t think McGregor wins and to me it makes zero sense for him to accept that fight.

Khabib and Justin Gaethje will square off on October 24th for the Lightweight Championship. Ideally, it would be perfect to have McGregor vs Ferguson on that same card with the winners facing off against each other for the Lightweight title in 2021. Hopefully over the next few weeks we will get some sort of better idea as to what’s next for McGregor but until then its back to playing the wait and see game. If McGregor doesn’t agree to fight Tony then we better get Ferguson vs Poirier because either one of those fights would be incredible.
