NBC Sports:“We’re not going to Philadelphia. Those games have been postponed,” Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo told Toronto reporters Thursday afternoon, shortly after a Phillies coach and home clubhouse attendant tested positive for COVID-19.
The Phillies have been off all week. They had their four-game home-and-home series with the Yankees postponed. It was supposed to be this Monday through Thursday. Yesterday, their Friday game against the Blue Jays was moved back to become a doubleheader Saturday.
Amid the postponements, the Phillies had been having scattered workouts at Citizens Bank Park this week after hosting a Marlins team on opening weekend that experienced an outbreak of more than a dozen players.
The Phillies canceled all activity at Citizens Bank Park Thursday until further notice.”
Welp, baseball, at least in the city of Philadelphia is not going well at all. Another series has been postponed. With only 6 total days off put into the schedule, there is going to have to be a bunch of double headers for the Phillies to play all 60 games this year. Most likely what is going to happen is the Phillies will bag some games at the end of the year if they are too far behind in the standings.
This is a nightmare scenario but our new reality. Pray we have games next week.
