I will be the first person to tell you that the NHL usually sucks at marketing and hyping things up. That being said they have done a fantastic job of adjusting to the times and getting fans excited about the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The NHL has given us a sneak peak at what to expect while watching the games from home. They’ve added a bunch of features that will make each game look different. They’ve added Led boards, more cameras, and customized arena sounds.
So, while watching the game for the “home” team you’ll be able to hear your favorite teams goal horn and song along with other chants that will make it feel like a true home game. I’m really excited to see how this turns out because it seems like the NHL has invested a lot into making the presentation of games more interesting. I’m glad they are doing this instead of cardboard cutouts of fans and hopefully with the added visuals and sounds it will have the authentic playoff game feel while watching.
As a Flyers fan I am fully hoping for their to be a virtual Gritty on the screen during their games. It would only be right to see what kind of shenanigans a virtual playoff Gritty would get into.
