Happy Wednesday folks! Im still exhausted from Saturday’s card, but we have some GREAT fights tonight to look forward to.
The main event tonight is #6 Calvin Kattar (-300) and #10 Dan Ige (+250) in a crucial bout in the Featherweight division. The winner of this fight will get that much closer to a title shot, in which Alexander Volkanovski is still the holder of after his victory on Saturday.
Now if you know the sport, you know Calvin Kattar fights out and grew up in Methuen, Massachusetts so i am gonna haveeee to be a little bias tonight folks. A Boston native headlining a fight night is hard to pick against. But for real, i’d pick him anyways. Kattar is a huge favorite for a reason.
Dan Ige is super talented and has not been defeated in over 2.5 years. He’s on a 6 fight win streak, but his last 2 wins have been close. It’s a tough call, for sure. Ige is on a roll, fueled by a forward-moving style that mixes power punches and takedowns. Kattar represents a step up in competition for Ige. He’s a great stand-up fighter with a strong command of distance and an ability to land more shots than he takes. I think Kattar can take this into the championship rounds and finish Ige by TKO.
Other fights/fighters to look out for tonight. #13 Tim Elliot (-120) vs Ryan Benoit (+100) in the co-main in a Flyweight bout, I would bet on Elliot as he has the advantage on the ground, could be a close one.
Then, we have another huge Featherweight bout as #8 Jimmie Rivera (-135) vs #9 Cody Stammen (+115). This is a very high level fight and I see Stamman pulling off the minor upset here, could be a smart bet to place tonight.
My girl Meatball # 15 Molly McCann is taking on Taila Santos in the women’s flyweight division. Super pumped for McCann to be showcased tonight, i’d put money on Molly as well. I mean her nickname is meatball how can you not?
Great night of fights, its work night kids! What else do you have to do besides watching the best athletes in the world punch each other in the face?
Lets go Calvin!
