What To Expect From UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs Hooker

Mac

We got an absolute BANGER of a main event tonight pitting two of the top 5 Lightweights in the world as #3 Dustin Poirier takes on #5 Dan Hooker in a pivotal matchup of title contenders. What a fucking matchup man. Lets predict how this will play out tonight in the UFC Apex from Las Vegas, Nevada.

I’m going to take Poirier tonight in a great fight. I would expect this to be the Fight Of The Night and a potential Fight of the Year contender. Why am leaning towards the Louisiana native? Well his strength of schedule in recent years is without a doubt the toughest in all of fighting. In Dustin Poirier’s last 5 fights he has fought Khabib Nurmagomedov (undefeated lightweight champ), Max Holloway (greatest featherweight ever), Eddie Alvarez (former lightweight champ), Justin Gaethje (current interim lightweight champ), and Anthony Pettis (former lightweight champ). It genuinely does not get any tougher than that. I mean im not sure if anyone has had that tough of 5 fights in a row, its pretty remarkable he is 4-1 in those with his only loss to Khabib. And at some point, one could argue that’s not a good thing — to face nothing but the best back-to-back-to-back-to back-to-back. But for right now, I like Poirier’s edge in experience.

I like his boxing, his very underrated ground game and the fact he traveled a much shorter distance to Las Vegas than Hooker did as Hooker has come from New Zealand for this fight.  This is a very, very, very competitive fight, but I’ll lean Poirier slightly. I have Poirier via TKO, Fourth round.

In the co-main event is another banger of a fight between welterweights Mickey Gall and Platinum Mike Perry in what could be an interesting fight for both men. Im actually going to say throw money on Mickey Gall here but you can never count out Mike Perry.

All in a all, this main event is super super awesome and very important. Make sure to tune into ESPN tonight if you want to see some of the highest level fighting on earth!!!

LFG!!!
