ESPN Proposed A Trade Between The Eagles And Seahawks

Earlier today ESPN’s Field Yates put out a list of proposed trades and among those trades the Eagles were mentioned. The following is the trade that was proposed.

Philadelphia Eagles Receive: Ethan Pocic

Seattle Seahawks Receive: Sidney Jones

Now I’ll start off by flat out saying NOOOO!!! I’m not gonna sit here and say I’ve always been a Sidney Jones guy cause I haven’t, but this is a deal that simply can’t be made. Besides Darius Slay and Nickell Robey Coleman our secondary doesn’t have a proven cornerback. With Jalen Mills move to safety, that leaves us with Avonte Maddox, Rasul Douglas, Crevon Leblanc and Sidney Jones. That’s a lot of uncertainty at the CB position and we can’t afford to ship off a cornerback due to depth issues and the yearly injury bug the Eagles face.

That being said I do think Sidney Jones will be cb2 this season. He is taking every step to improve his game and become the cb that everyone thought he would be coming out of college. You constantly see him training with the best of the best in training videos and guys speaking highly of him. We as Eagles fans just have to hope his puts it all together.

Looking at Ethan Pocic, he is a fine offensive lineman who is versatile. That’s the thing though, he is just fine. No need to give up cb depth for a offensive lineman who is decent at best. Matt Pryor, back up right guard is no slouch according to teammate Lane Johnson. Johnson recently said “He’s definitely taking it a lot more seriously, I think he knows his role; he could be a starter. When he got to play last year, he did very well in games. Really, when you look at him, he’s 6-8. I always joke with him, call him Treebeard from Lord of the Rings, the walking trees, that’s just how big this guy is, that’s how much room he takes up, how massive he is.” “I think once he gets a few games under his belt, gets some confidence going, then he’ll go to the next level.”

Those statements by Lane Johnson give me all the confidence in the world that we already have Brandon Brooks replacement in house. So for that reason, this trade to me makes absolutely ZERO sense.
