Rumors have been all over the place for Eagles target, Devonta Freeman. Last week, it was confirmed the Seahawks wanted to snag him. But, he was looking for more money and the Seattle moved on to Carlos Hyde.
Now, the wildest rumor involving Freeman is that the 28 year old is retiring?! There were rumors this week that the former Falcons running-back would SIT OUT the year if a suitor didn’t match his terms. Things spiraled out of amuck from there, saying Freeman would sit out for a lifetime.
Apparently, no one ran these rumors past Devonta Freeman before they reported them.

I’m sure his agent is having a moment like when Michael Scott was faced with Toby’s return. “OH GOD. PLEASE NO!” Most agents don’t love it when you tell people to fuck off when they are trying to bring in millions of dollars for you.
Despite the harsh words for the haters, I would still be in on Devonta Freeman as an Eagle. The Seahawks had offered Freeman a base salary of $3 million with performance incentives over $4 million. Then they signed Carlos Hyde for less.
It will likely drive the price down for Freeman and the Eagles, a team unwilling to contribute a ton of salary capital, may see their interest spike after this. With Miles Sanders an a legitimate RB1 and Boston Scott as their RB3, they do need one more back. But, the incentive to “overpay” a back-up compared to other free agent backs just isn’t there. It has much in large part to the Eagles faith in the young backs they’ve begun to accumulate.
Lesean McCoy hasn’t retired just yet, he is still an option. And I guess Devonta Freeman hasn’t retired yet either, making him a top target as well.
