Did The Eagles Find The Next Premier Back In The NFL?

AJ Torres

The Eagles have a history of finding studs at the running back position. They’ve drafted the likes of Duce Staley, Correll Buckhalter, Brian Westbrook, Lesean McCoy, and now Miles Sanders who in my opinion will end out being the best of the bunch. The kid is talented at all three phases of the position (running, pass catching, blocking.) The 53rd overall pick exceeded expectations in the 2019 season. Most people forget he didn’t start the first 5-6 games. Truthfully, I believe he needed those games to truly get the grasp of everything. Once he got to watch Jordan Howard on the field and take in how fast the game is, it brought his IQ to a whole different level and has Meek Mill says “there’s levels to this shit.”

I mean his numbers speak for themselves. 818 rushing yards on only 179 carries. Also he hauled in 509 receiving yards with 50 receptions also catching 3 touch downs. Granted his touchdown total was a bit low at 3, the eagles using a RB by committee will always keep that low.

Miles said in an interview recently that he wants to be the Eagles version of Christian McCaffrey. Now if you really know me you know how much I’m obsessed with Cmac. Loved him since Stanford. Dude is just a matchup nightmare. To have Miles say that made me fall in love with him more than I already did. The thing that is crazy is Sanders rookie year was BETTER than McCaffrey. Both were in similar positions, starting as the back up and eventually taking over as the lead back mid way through the season. Cmac tallied roughly 1100 yards and 7 touchdowns as a rook, while Miles totaled around 1400 yards with 6 touchdowns.

McCaffrey took a huge leap in year too and to be honest, all of Philly expects Boobie Sanders to do the same. The potential is there for Sanders to be a top 7 running back in the league. He may already be top 10. The sky’s the limit for this young cat and I’m here for the god damn ride baby.
