NJ.Com: “The Mets wanted Realmuto in a deal with the Marlins before the 2019 season, so it would be surprising if the team doesn’t pursue the CAA client (Brodie Van Wagenen used to co-head the firm’s baseball division) in free agency this upcoming offseason.
Wilson Ramos — who was signed only after it became evident the Mets had moved on from a trade with Miami — could return on a club option for 2021, but Realmuto would represent a clear upgrade at catcher. At this point, Robinson Cano, Jed Lowrie and Michael Wacha are the players with CAA ties Van Wagenen has brought to the Mets. Will any of them work out?
Realmuto belongs in a different category than the others — he’s in the prime of his career and the scarcity of quality catchers makes him an appealing option for many clubs.”
If the Phillies lose JT to the Mets I might just stop watching baseball all together. I can’t go and root for another team. I’d always be standings watching the Phillies and probably tune into games. So I’d only be left with one decision and that is to just stop watching the sport all together. The fact that a deal hasn’t been finished already is a joke. If you then go on to lose the best catcher in baseball to your division rival, we riot. Pay this guy. This isn’t a young unproven guy like Dom Brown, this isn’t even a vet with success like Jim Thome. This is the best player at his position entering the prime of his career. Do. The. Deal. Whatever money he wants. Give it to him. How ever long he wants. He is worth every penny and if the alternative is him wearing a Mets uniform, in that case, he’s worth double.
UPDATE: It’s bad
“The Phillies, according to Realmuto, never made a formal offer.” https://t.co/yankNGNUQl
