NBA is done for at least another month and with everyone quarantining I love this move by the NBA. Players like Devin Booker, Ben Simmons and Gordon Hayward have been streaming a bunch on Twitch and with the success that iRacing has seen on Fox this makes perfect sense. Each team will have one player represent their team in a tournament this Friday and it’ll be broadcasted on ESPN.
I love the idea but it isn’t flawless. A lot of NBA players play video games in their spare time dating back to the early 2000s with Starcraft but what I think a lot of people don’t realize is that 2k fucking sucks and the players know it. They’re all playing COD, no one plays 2k and you know how I know that? Because if you go to any of their twitters they all have their twitch linked and they’re all playing COD! Except for Hayward, he’s been playing League.
This is going to be awesome and putting video games on the main stage is always good in my book but just realize they don’t actually play the game like you think they would.
Sources: Clarity, it will be a 16-player NBA 2K tournament lasting 10 days. 4-time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins among the participants. https://t.co/0V1LfU9pnI— Chris Haynes (@ChrisBHaynes) March 31, 2020
